CSCA.ai guide to CSCA score reports and 2027/28 Chinese Government Scholarship applications

Updated 31 October 2026. If you are applying for an undergraduate Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC/CGS) for the 2027/28 academic year, start with the notice for the country and application route you will actually use. The Chinese embassies in Indonesia, South Sudan and the Maldives each require a valid official CSCA score report for the undergraduate routes described below, but their deadlines and submission steps differ. A booking receipt, a CSCA.ai practice result, and an official score report are three different things.

Quick answer: which test sitting should you choose?

Work backward from the date your receiving office needs the official score report, not merely the test registration date. The Chinese Embassy in Indonesia requires bachelor’s applicants on its 2027/28 route to hold a valid CSCA report when applying online by 14 February 2027. The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan asks undergraduate applicants to register for a November or December 2026 or January 2027 sitting, obtain a valid report, and submit their package by 5 February 2027. The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives names the same possible sittings for September 2027 entry but requires the report at the time of application and sets its local deadline at 29 January 2027. A sitting close to your deadline may leave too little time for the result; confirm the official result timeline before booking.

  • South Sudan route: online application plus hard-copy package to the embassy by 5 February 2027. The embassy specifically requires an undergraduate CSCA score report and a university pre-admission document.
  • Maldives route: submit through the Chinese Government Scholarship system; the embassy says a valid CSCA score report and at least one university admission or pre-admission document are needed with the online application. Its deadline is 29 January 2027.
  • Timor-Leste route: the embassy notice says online application and documents must reach the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Culture before 20 December 2026. That short notice does not itself state a CSCA score-report rule; confirm it with the ministry and your intended university rather than assuming the requirements from another country.
  • Indonesia embassy route: the 27 October 2026 notice requires online scholarship application and documents through CampusChina before 14 February 2027; no paper package goes to the embassy. Its agency number is 3602. Bachelor’s applicants need a valid official CSCA score report from a test after 1 March 2025 at the time of application, plus at least one university pre-admission document. Ask each target university which CSCA subjects your major requires. The notice lists 20 full scholarships across undergraduate, master’s and doctoral study; international travel is not covered. These terms belong to this embassy route, not every Chinese university application.

Why one global scholarship deadline is misleading

The scholarship system, embassy or ministry, and university can each have a different step and cutoff. The Chinese Embassy in Indonesia’s 27 October 2026 notice sets 14 February 2027 for its 2027/28 route; the Timor-Leste embassy notice names 20 December 2026 for local ministry submission; the Maldives notice names 29 January 2027; and South Sudan names 5 February 2027. These dates apply only to the routes described in those notices. If your country or application route differs, find its current official notice and check the university’s international undergraduate admissions page. Do not copy a generic scholarship deadline into your calendar.

A six-step application checklist

From target degree to complete application

  1. Choose a program and route

Write down the university, degree, teaching language and scholarship route. The required CSCA papers can differ by major.

  2. Read your local official notice

Record the submission deadline, system, agency number if stated, and whether documents must also be sent to an embassy or ministry.

  3. Ask the university about subjects

The Indonesia, South Sudan and Maldives notices direct applicants to confirm CSCA subjects with their preferred university. Ask before registering for papers.

  4. Plan a sitting with result time

Choose a sitting that should produce the official report before the earliest applicable deadline. Confirm current registration, exam and result dates on csca.cn.

  5. Request pre-admission evidence

The Indonesia, South Sudan and Maldives notices require university-issued pre-admission or admission-related evidence. Ask your target university what it can provide and when.

  6. Submit and retain proof

Upload the official report and required documents through the specified route. If a hard copy is required, leave delivery time and keep submission confirmation.

What counts as a CSCA score report?

A score report is the official result from the CSCA testing process. The Maldives embassy notice even links a sample report. Registering for a test shows intent to sit it; it is not the result. A CSCA.ai practice session helps you study and identify weak topics; it does not create an official score report and cannot replace one in a scholarship application. If your report is delayed, contact the receiving scholarship office or university directly and ask whether a later upload is permitted. Do not assume a booking confirmation will be accepted.

A realistic timing example

Suppose a student using the Maldives route is considering the January 2027 sitting. The published local deadline is 29 January 2027, and the notice requires a valid report when the online application is submitted. Before paying for that sitting, the student should check the exact exam date and official result-release date, then ask the embassy or university how a report arriving close to the deadline would be handled. If the expected report date is after the application cutoff, a November or December 2026 sitting is the safer planning choice. This is an example of the decision process, not a guarantee about any sitting's result date.

Questions to send your university or scholarship office

  1. For my named undergraduate program, which CSCA subjects and exam language are required?
  2. Does my scholarship route require the official score report at initial submission, or can I add it later?
  3. What is the last date for the report and the separate last date for pre-admission evidence?
  4. Which university document counts as pre-admission for my route, and how can I request it?
  5. If I have reports from more than one sitting, which valid scores will you consider?
