CSCA Home-Based Exam Checklist: Devices, Room and Practice
Get ready for the CSCA home-based exam with a device, identity, room and timed-practice checklist. Always confirm your sitting's official technical instructions.

For a home-based CSCA sitting, exam preparation has two parts: knowing your subject and being able to enter and complete the supervised exam. The official CSCA home-exam notice describes a primary computer and a secondary phone or tablet, with remote invigilation. It says the content, duration and question type match the centralized computer exam. Device specifications and software instructions can change, so use the official guide for your own sitting rather than an old checklist.
One week before: review the official instructions
- Read the current home-based exam notice, operating guide and any video supplied for your sitting.
- Check the exact required operating system, browser or exam client, camera, microphone, internet and secondary-device arrangement in that guide. Do not assume a device that worked for another online test will work here.
- Run any official equipment or environment check when the portal offers it. Resolve failures while there is still time to contact official support.
- Prepare the original ordinary passport used for registration and ensure the identity photo and account details match.
- Write down start time in the time zone named in the official notice and set a reminder for the earlier check-in time.
The two-device setup is part of supervision, not an optional study aid. The primary computer is used for the exam, while a phone or tablet acts as the secondary position according to the official instructions. Arrange both so the required view is clear and power is available; follow the exact positioning diagram in your candidate guide.
The day before: set up a compliant room
Choose a quiet space where you can work without visitors or interruptions. Clear the desk of notes, extra devices and anything the current exam rules prohibit. Check lighting so your face and identity document can be verified. Tell household members when the test will be running, but do not let anyone enter the monitored space during the exam. If the official guide asks for a room scan, understand how to complete it before test time.
A short rehearsal
Test the setup
Use the official system check with the actual devices, power supply and network you plan to use.
Rehearse the handoff
Place the passport nearby for check-in, then follow the invigilator's rules about where it may remain during the test.
Practice to the clock
For Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry, rehearse 48 single-choice questions in 60 minutes, then review accuracy and pacing.
Plan a help route
Locate the official support contact and what to do if a technical problem occurs before or during the sitting.
During the exam: follow the proctoring rules
Stay within the monitored view and follow the invigilator's instructions. CSCA's official user agreement describes restrictions on leaving the camera view, using unauthorized materials or communication devices, and obstructing monitoring equipment. If you have a legitimate interruption or a device problem, report it through the exam's prescribed channel instead of trying to fix it in a way that might appear to break a rule.
Timed CSCA.ai practice is useful for pacing, but it does not reproduce official identity verification or the exact exam interface. Practise the academic content here; rely on the official CSCA materials for technical and conduct requirements.
